Safety

Safety is very important to the Paulson Electric team. We are dedicated to providing a safe working environment for all employees and everyone else on the jobsite. We maintain and follow a comprehensive safety program that makes us one of the safest contractors in the field. Paulson Electric's intense focus on leading safety indicators and giving our field personnel the skills necessary to assess, analyze and mitigate hazardous situations have led to our declining EMR and low number of incidents.

Paulson Electric's safety program is led by the Safety Committee, chaired by a company vice-president and composed of management and field personnel from all of our locations. The Safety Committee meets regularly to discuss jobsite conditions, the safety training schedule and other data gathered through our reporting process. New personnel receive safety training before they enter a Paulson Electric jobsite and all field personnel receive regular training in areas such as personal protective equipment (PPE), lockout/tagout program, arc-flash protection and general hazard analysis and mitigation.

Paulson Electric has been recognized by our customers for our commitment to jobsite safety.  Paulson Electric was nominated by Ryan Companies for its Safe Contractor Recognition in 2010. The standards for nomination include creative solutions to safety, positive attitude toward safety implementation and documentation, minimal lost-time injuries and safety program enforcement. John Deere Waterloo Works has also recognized Paulson Electric for our commitment to safety.

Paulson Electric has also received industry recognition for its safety program and record. We recently received the 2009 Dubuque Labor-Management Partnership Award for working 97,212 hours in 2008 without a lost time incident. The award was presented by the Dubuque Area Labor Management Council and Alliance for Contracting Excellence.
